Maximum PC

This is something I should be able to figure out but for some reason having an issue. I have two routers and this is the setup:

192.168.1.1 - WNDR3700 (MAIN ROUTER
192.168.1.2 - WNDR3400 (RANGE EXTENDER)

Extender using same SSID, Encryption type and password. Tried same channel and also Different Channels 1 and 6

Removed the extender from DHCP and set for repeating function.

My issue is this. The second I press save on the 3400 and remove it from DHCP I no longer have access to the router. I can't get any connection, can't ping, nothing.

Any ideas? BTW tried this same setup on two different devices. As actual routers they work just fine no glitches-- perfect.

Are both devices up to date as far as firmware goes? A firmware update usually "fixes" problems the users reported to them. It may fix this issue.

yes they are both up to date. I think I figured it out. I had to set my local machine to a static IP.
