Hi iv just recentally made my first computer all parts from Newegg and after getting it all put together and installing Windows 7 64bit I was so happy it looked like everything turned out well.

Well guess what it dident, Whenever I try to do a windows update the computer will crash and restart. Or if I try to install drivers or something 80% of the time the computer crashes.

Its not just when i update or install something it also happens randomly when im on the desktop. Iv tried navigating through forums for similar things but i couldn't find anything, I have also tried reinstalling Windows twice now. Im not great with computers im more in the moderate area when it comes to knowledge of how they work.

Did you just let windows install genaric drivers or did you use the disk that came with the motherboard to load the chipset drivers, video driver, sound drive, nic driver ectra....?

This sounds like a RAM issue. Have you tried running memTest86+ for several passes to determine if you have any failing memory addresses in your system memory?

There are so many things that can cause random system crashes, (BSOD), etc.

As others have mentioned, memory issues, motherboard drivers, etc.

Did you remember the TIM? Was the TIM applied correctly? How do your temps look? Is the CPU over heating?

What BIOS settings are you using? Is there enough Vcore voltage? Low Vcore will cause random system crashes.

You'll need to eliminate one at a time.
