I just received my new edition of MaxPC and was instantly intrigued by the virtual hackintosh article. I proceeded to aquire all of the items needed and started the process. The problem came to be between steps 1 and 2.

It flashed a window with the following: Software virtualization is incompatible with long mode on this platform. Disabling long mode. Without long mode support, the virtual machine will not be able to run 64 bit code. For more details see http://vmware.com/info?id=152.

I'm running this on a Core i3 64-bit notebook, please advise on what to do in order to remedy and complete the installation.

What issue are you referring to? I don't have it in the June issue...

Link us to the article at the Max Pc site if they have it up already.

Does the Virtual Machine software you are using support Mac OS?

Look on their website to make sure.

I figured out that my AMD processor did not have virtualization on. I enabled it and was able to get past the stoping point.

Now it goes to the initial OS X install screen and it returns a virtualization shutdown and restart.

So what are you running AMD or Intel, you stated in the first post that you are running a Core i3 (Intel), then later stated your AMD chip did not have virtualization on?

I started with the Intel but switched to AMD due to spousal unit not liking me tinker with her laptop.

Have you run other virtualization software? On this computer I had to enable it in the bios.

I enabled it in the bios, that's what got me further.

I've attempted it on 3 different pc's ( 2 AMD, 1 Intel) so far with same result. I've enabled virtualization on all 3 and followed the steps in the article. They all have a virtualization engine restart/shutdown at the point of starting the OS X install.

Please advise!!!
