I am experiencing corruption of video usually from streaming. The audio is always fine.

System is as follows:
Intel DP55KG board
Intel Core i7-860
16 Gb Memory
ATI Radeon HD 4890
Dual monitors, both Dell: U2410 (Digital) and 2407WFP (Digital) resolution is 1200x1900 and refresh is 59
Win 7 Pro 64-bit

I get the corruption on both monitors. Have tried a number of solutions, but none have worked. Have tried lower resolutions to get higher refresh rates with no joy.

Do I need a different graphics card? Or is there a solution to this I have yet to find?

TIA

Let's go with the usual: are the graphics drivers up to date?

Also since this is streamed video, I should ask if Flash is up to date.

I had two 4890s in Crossfire and when one died this is what it did. I found out the fan on the 4890 died and took the card with it. So, check the fan and see if it is running at speed.

Which would imply overheating. So I would check the temperature first with HWMonitor or some such.

GPU-Z reports a GPU temp of 55.0 deg C. and no RPM. Time to go under the hood!

I just noticed that while RPM is not reported, fan speed is shown at 47%.

What app is showing 47%?

Is the heatsink/fan full of dustbunnies?

GPU-Z 0.6.2 is showing the percentage.

Have you updated the driver? How did you do it? Are you sure you loaded the correct driver for the card? Not all the latest drivers work well with old cards, try an earlier version.

Yes, I updated the driver. But your question of how it was done got me to thinking. (Thanks!) So I uninstalled the driver, going back to VGA. I then ran CCleaner on the registry and then restarted. I then installed the driver and restarted. My video now seems to be working correctly although time will tell. Perhaps the driver was corrupted and uninstalling was what was needed. Thanks to all for your help.

That is what I think happened, you just installed a new driver over old and that usually causes corruption. The way you described how you loaded the new driver is a good method and works for me too, however I do shut off the anti-virus when I uninstall and install the new driver. On the drivers website they recommend you do this to prevent corruption while un-installing and installing.

Have fun!

If you are streaming from a site such as own3d.tv or twitch.tv, you might try right clicking the stream>Settings>and then uncheck Hardware Acceleration (or something like that, can't check at work). I had this issue for a long time as well until I unchecked that box. Also, I correctly removed old drivers and reinstalled the new ones and this allowed me to leave that box checked with no artifacts.
