I'm using Windows 7 Professional 64 bit with a Dell Ultrasharp 24" monitor. I've noticed that in Device Manager my monitor is only recognized as a Generic PnP Monitor. So I went to the Dell support site for drivers and THERE ARE NONE! The Dell monitors do not support 64 bit Windows 7. So I know these monitors are highly recommended in The Best of the Best section. How are people getting these monitors to be accepted by 64 bit Windows?

You don't really need drivers for a monitor. And if there are any drivers, it's probably just to make it so Windows knows what it is.

If so, then how come Dell has support drivers for 32 bit Windows 7?

As a jackass response, ask them. But typically monitors don't need drivers unless the monitor itself has some special feature, and most don't.

Have you looked in Windows Update to see if there are any drivers for it, I know my Acer doesn't have any drivers on Acer's site, but windows update had a driver for mine.

my son is using the same monitor with win 7 64bit without any drivers, they are only needed to identify the model number of the monitor, they do not make the monitor do anything special. It is a generic pnp monitor, its nothing special. my samsung is shown as a generic monitor too. the operating system has nothing to do with how the monitor works, 32bit, 64bit its all the same to the monitor.
