Just received the parts for my new rig - and it won't boot up. The ASUS P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 board has LEDs to inform me of any issues, and the memory LED lights up like a Christmas tree, making me feel that the memory is not compatible with the board. Wondered if anyone else was having/had similar issues with this board?

ASUS P8Z68
Corsair Vengeance DDR3

Corsair memory sticks aren't "exactly" listed on the QVC list for this board, but man, you couldn't get closer if you tried (CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 appears on list, these sticks are CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9B - all specs appear to be the exact same, even timings)

I have used corsair with every asus board I ever owned without issue, I doubt if that is a problem.

more importantly, does the machine run, all my lights on my asus formula light up.

QVC lists are a list of memory that the manufacturer has only tested for compatibility. It is a guarantee that if you buy that memory module, it will work on the motherboard (assuming no other defects present). It does not mean it is the only compatible memory for that motherboard.

Everything else appears fine. CPU has power, as do all the fans. Monitor doesn't display anything, and the memory light on the board is lit (manual indicates that this indicates an issue with the memory). Currently waiting on new sticks to arrive.

I have the same MOBO only it isn't the GEN 3 version. I had the same issue when I changed the CPU cooler. I got a bot crowise on the installation and had the backing plate in wrong, which then involved some forcing to mount the cooler. When it was back together, it to quit at the memory on post. I ended up gettting a replacement cooler as well as a new MOBO and put the cooler in right the second time ( I kinda wrecked the first cooler in the process as well ). I haven't bread boarded the MOBO to see if it will post, so don't know if it was damaged or not. May get around to it some time. The memory should be fine as far as i know. I am running GSkill Ripjaws Series X 1600 Mhz 8,8,8,24 memory and that isn't on the list either.
