Maximum PC

First of all this is my first post here, and thanks for the help in advance. The issue that I am having is that when i try to connect my laptop to my Samsung external monitor using an HDMI cable it blue screens my laptop. This is a recent problem, it used to work fine until about two weeks ago. I have tried updating everything including my graphics card. When the issue started did not coincide with anything major happening like an update.

First off how about some more info on the specs of your chit.

Second have you tried a different cable????

Laptop model numbers and hardware specs are always essential in troubleshooting such problems. You say your HDMI cable has been doing fine with other tasks. Is this a usual external connection? New monitor/cable? Have any driver updates been installed?

I have an alienware 15 in laptop with an i7 2820QM cpu at 2.3 GHz, with an NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M graphics card, and my OS is Windows 7 home premium version 6.1, build 7601 service pack 1, and its a 64 bit OS. I have tried using two different cables, both of which work with other things, like my desktop and my xbox 360. As far as i am aware no new updates were installed between the time that it worked and when i stopped working. I have my laptop connected to my monitor at all times when i am at my desk, and it has been this way for about 6 months. Right after the first time i messed up it popped up with a screen and it said something about a kernel drive, that was all i could read before it went away, and i have not been able to get to the screen again. I hope this is all the information that you guys need, sorry im not the best with technology, but I am trying to learn.
