Have you tried to use system restore to go to a day before things got all screwed up?

Whoops! Sorry used to another forum i usually post these on where all my specs are in my sig. ATI, Sapphire tech 5870 in crossfire. I seem to have fixed it by removing one of the gfx cards, my initial guess is that the one i removed is dying =/

Some ATi cards will have issues with lots of new games especially running crossfire. Since ME3 just came out yesterday, you can expect issues with dual monitors/multi gpu solutions. Best you can hope for is to keep your graphics drivers as up to date as possible (especially since the 100% cpu usage bug has been resolved for ATi) and to run with 1 gpu until there is a patch or you can find a specialized setting/config to enable full usage of your hardware.

Had the same issues with Metro 2033 and RAGE. Always had to disable one monitor and disable 1 gpu just to get the games to run.

Cheers, holler if you have anymore problems/questions.

Hmm, never had this problem with Rage, never played metro tho. I do think the card my be dying, it always showed strange info in the CCC info, while one card would be running at full speed it was always (ALWAYS, even under load) running at like 120mhz clock....Im waiting for the 7990s (i think thats the #) thats supposed to come out sometime this month. Figure its time to upgrade anyway...

You are using the bridge connector to connect the two cards in Crossfire, yes? If you are and have a clean install of the ati drivers, it should run unless you have a bad card.
Did you try just running the bad card by itself and get the same message, then switch the card with the good card and run the game and have no issues. I that is so, then you have one bad card.

Call the manufacture and tell them what is going on and give them the message that keeps popping up. Be sure to tell them you are running Crossfire when it happens and if only one card does it, tell them the procedure you used (above) to determine the bad cards is causing the issues. I had the same problem and told Asus one of my 4890s was busted and I was running Crossfire. They told me to send in both cards and replaced them with upgraded cards (5830s) because the 4890s were no longer made or in stock. So go throught proceedure to rma the cards, who knows, you may get an upgrade too.

StimpE,

I have been running AMD/ATI cards forever and they always ran any game I tossed at them. You must be doing something wrong to have so many failures...installing new drivers will cause problems if you don't do it right. If the case is not properly vented and you get heat buildup they will fail. Hell any video card will.

cross fire cable, check. Put in a support ticket request with Sapphire last night, hoping they replace one (or both!). My case has good airflow, 10 fans running in it. my best guess based on sounds coming from the machine is the onboard fan on the card is giving out.

I have the same problem as you, 0x116 BSOD when starting up any 3D program. I have a 5770 and a 6770 in Crossfire. I've tried reinstalling all the drivers, running in safe mode, the whole deal. Still nothing. Only works when I uninstall Catalyst Control Center.

That's the only fix I have as of now. ATI/AMD needs to get this fixed.

You need the control center to turn Crossfire on or off, it won't work any other way that I know of.

I know, I'm currently running the 6770 only.

If the gpus are not the same in the 67 and 57 series of cards, you can't crossfire them.

In GPU-Z it says Crossfire is indeed enabled, yet I don't have CCC installed.
The two GPUs are the same series. (Juniper?)
I'm currently only using my 6770, but the 5770 is still in the x8 PCI-e slot and the two cards are bridged. Under the 6770 dropdown selection, it shows ATI Crossfire enabled, with 2 GPUs. In the 5770's dropdown menu, it's listed as disabled.
If it would help, I could post a Speccy or GPU-Z screenie.
