I have a Core i7 rig with a GTX 260 216 Core Superclocked. I watch blu-ray and use ArcSoft video player. I'm having problems where there are digital artifacts. Like...centimeter squared squares all over the screen. Most of the time it happens during fast motion but sometimes it just happens.

When I contacted ArcSoft they narrowed it down to my graphics card. I don't see why this could be an issue since standalone players don't even have too much in terms of hardware.

What would be the problem? Is there some way I can fix this? I'm just getting tired of all the problems with playback and think I would go digital (download / viewing) but just want to see if this reoccurring issue could get fixed.

Are you running anything in the background? What drivers are you running? What firmware?

Usually the digital artifacts you mention can be something like the gpu hiccuping if timing/scheduling during the decoding process isn't proper; either from some sort of service conflict, another app using cpu/gpu cycles and stealing affinity, or something hardware related (could be associated to the GPU being factory OC or the PCIe lanes OC(which I highly doubt)).

The most that I am doing is surfing on the web on mostly text based sites. I have watched movies - just the movie - and the artifacts have still persisted. I have the most recent graphics , sound , directx , Intel , blu-ray player firmware / software installed. The program is also the most recent (as I was given an updated version that wasn't showing up in the older version I was playing movies with).

I'm not entirely sure but it seems to always happen a little after fresh installing. I will watch a few movies after installing Windows but after taking a break and then watching movies again the artifacts just come out of nowhere.
