Here's an odd situation... I've just finished a new build using an Asus P8Z68-V Pro MoBo, 3.4Ghz i7 2600K, and Win7 Pro 64Bit.

The two HD's I have connected to the Marvell SATA3 ports show up as removable SCSI(!) drives in the Remove Hardware/Eject Media list on my tool bar.

I have two SSD's connected to the Intel SATA3 ports, and the two HD's used also need to be on SATA3 connections, and needless to say, I don't want to accidentally eject them!

Everything is up-to-date; the MoBo BIOS, the Marvell SATA Drivers, and Windows itself.

Unfortunately I'm not getting much help from Asus on this particular problem, they've been excellent in the past, but this seems to have them stumped.

There doesn't seem to be a way to disable Hot Plugging on the Marvell ports as you can on the Intel's, and Asus is hinting that this is a Windows issue... does anyone have any ideas?

Thanking you in advance
Paul

If you want to disable the hot swap function on those ports, change them from AHCI, to IDE or Legacy.

Perfect, THANKS! Yup, just changed them back to IDE and the problem went away; they no longer show up as removable, and they're no longer described as SCSI drives!
