Hello. My wife is using MICROSOFT PUBLISHER from OFFICE 2010. She has just become the newsletter editor for our car club. She can save the file with the .pub extension. When she attempts to save it again as a .PDF file, she gets a message stating " not enough memory to complete this operation. Shut down other programs and try again later. " She has shut down all programs that were running, except for PUBLISHER. She even used TASK MANAGER to shut down some items.

She has an AMD DUAL CORE processor, with 8 gigs of RAM. Some of the things we have Googled for this problem say it is "virtual memory" that is messing it up.

I was wondering if any of you kind people may know what is going on with the problem and what the fix may be? :?:

Thank you.

Is she using the "Save As" thing to try to save it as a PDF?

If you install PrimoPDF, you can use the Print thing to save it as a PDF. Just install, and hit the "Print Settings" button (or press Crtl and P at the same time), select "PrimoPDF" in the box where you select what printer to use, and hit print. The program will translate your .pub to a .pdf file.

A link to the user manual that should help.

Do you have Office up to date with all the Service Packs installed. I came a across a bunch of hits for Out of Memory Errors and they seemed to all be fixed with the installation of SP1 for Office 2010

My wife took over the newsletter from the previous editor. He emailed her an old "template" so she could just insert new items to replace the old stuff. She looked at the size of the file, and it was over 250MB big! She also did some research and found out that when Publisher "deletes" stuff, it really doesn't. It goes into some sort of "gallery" in case a person wants to reuse it later . She does not know where to go to locate this "gallery" to actually throw the stuff in the trash. Neither do i.

She also downloaded and installed SP1 for Office just as i was writing this situation.

One thing she thought of doing, was basically creating a whole new .pub file, and trying a COPY / PASTE of the items in the newsletter, so it would bring it maybe down to size. Then see if it would save as a .pdf file.

Again, thanks in advance.

Once again, if you are trying to use the "Save As" prompt to save it as a PDF, you will get an "out of memory" error. I have been able to duplicate this in SP1.

Thanks all for your replies. She was able to figure out what was wrong with saving it, and it had something to to do with the graphics she was inserting into the newsletter. It was a long and difficult learning curve for her. It would be SO nice if there was something besides the HELP file to guide a person thru some of the software, both Bill Gates Is My Daddy and others.
