I have been trying to get my catalyst control center updated for the past week or so, but when ever I open up the CCC installer, it says I have the most up to date version, but when I open up CCC, it says that I still have the one from July(version 11.7) does anyone know why this could happen? o.O

I had the same problem last week. I tried this AMD Driver Downloader to check for and download the latest driver and the issue went away.

I have just tried it and it still says I have 11.7....could it be some software that I have installed, or maybe a piece of hardware that is limiting this upgrade?(I highly doubt the whole hardware thing, but never leave out any possibilities..)

Did you shut off the anti-virus when you uninstalled and installed the driver?

Did you uninstall the old driver first, say no to reboot?

Did you use Driver sweeper to get rid of what was left?

Did you run CCleaner to clean the registry?

Did you delete the AMD folder and empty the recycle bin, then say reboot?

When the above was done...now install the driver.

You should be good to go.

Yep. It wasn't any different than installing the stuff for the first time and didn't have any problems after that with updates. Incidently, I never install the stuff from the disk when I install a new board anyway.

Nasty,
I tried what you said and it seems to not work for some reason.... Though I could be doing it wrong, which is understandable, since I did it in somewhat of a hurry.
Any suggestions as to why it wouldn't work for me...? o.O

Nasty gave you a good rundown down on that. I don'y use Driversweeper, but do use CCleaner, both Files and Registry. When you went to reinstall the drivers, did you do it from the disk or go to the site? Best to go to the site and get the latest drivers and stuff.

If you go through all the steps I listed it should work unless windows is corrupt in some way.

Yeah, I agree, it should work. He said he rushed it, so hopefully he'l go back and spend a bit more time with it. Rushing through stuff never helps.

Also, I know this is kind of late to inform you guys of this, but when I was uninstalling and re-installing(even when I was still blindly updating thinking that it was updating normally) it would say that installation was complete but with warnings. Then I clicked on the view log button, and no warnings were on there... it only says that the installations were a success. Would that be a sign of Windows corruption? Or is that something I shouldn't really worry about?

so for running CCleaner I would go to the Registry tab to clean the Registry and the tools tab to clean out files, is that correct? Also for driver sweeper I check the box for AMD and click analyze then clean, correct?

Nasty,
So I tried everything that you outlined earlier in the thread, and catalyst is installed. However, in catalyst I can only see stuff for CPU, nothing for GPU what so ever. Also when I uninstalled and re-installed, the installer kept saying there was a warning but when I clicked view log, there was no message of the warning what so ever..... I am perplexed by this, and am getting frustrated since I have spent most of the day today working on this. Do you have any idea what could be the problem?

You may have a defective card, I would call the manufacture and explain the problem and I will bet you get a RMA.

I have changed out the graphics card I currently have and put in a different one as the main graphics card(I have just put in an Xfire setup in my computer last night) and when I used the different card, CCC seemed to install just fine.... so I guess it's the MSI card I have, while I was browsing the MSI website for drivers for the Twin Frozr II version of the 6870, I saw that the driver that they had on the website stopped at 11.7....I don't know if this is the case or not, but I'm not complaining right now, since CCC is now up to date...I guess...?

The latest driver is 11.10, as long as your machine is running fine...don't fix it.
