I've recently been working on an HP Pavilion dv5-1250us Notebook (Vista). When I was "working" (aka, gaming) the computer's power strip was turned off. When I attempted to reboot the computer, it froze at a variety of different stages (before and after the login screen comes up, and after attempting to open an application).
During boot-up, there's a "press 'esc'" to enter boot-up menu, so I did so and ran some built-in diagnostic tests. The memory test came up clean, but the HDD test gave me three errors, 301, 303, and 305 (scroll down on this
page for HP's take on the errors). These posts
on the HP website cause me to believe that I need to replace the HDD? What do you guys think?
