I have had Norton 360 on my Toshiba laptop for nearly three years now (as it came pre-installed on the laptop with a 60-day trial that I subsequently chose to renew for two years, then upgraded to v. 4.0 with an installation CD. The program has worked very well until recently when I kept getting an error stating that some particular component of this securitiy software encountered an error and needed to close. I finally received a help window this evening giving me detailed instructions for uninstalling/reinstalling Norton 360 (using the latest revision of the Norton Removal Tool). When I downloaded and ran the removal tool, it seemed to stall at "Processing MSIs by Product Code, so I stopped it (even though it allegedly "cannot be stopped", and restarted the computer and tried re-running the Norton Removal Tool again, only to have it stall again at the same place during the removal of this shitty software. WTF is going on? Any suggestions on what I need to do to finish removing this software in order to attempt a reinstallation? Please help!

Go into safe mode and remove it from there. It sounds like some processes refuse to shut down and be removed.

If that don't work, use this method...it works I have done it to a friends work machine at his business and replaced it with Microsoft Essentials.

PS Make a restore point before doing anything!

Thanks for the reply, Nasty. I did as you suggested and everything is now uninstalled and reinstalled with Norton 360 working just as it should.
