Hi you all:
Laptop Dell Latitude CPx 750 MHz 256 mb ram ATI Mobility Rag vid. Card w/ 16 meg On it.
My computer literally crawls while booting up and while on. Running msconfig did not do any good. I remember an article in Max PC Mag last year that had step by step instructions on how to kill the culprits who resided on system resources as hogs at the boot time. I also have some programs that installed themselves on my machine while surfing the internet[my wife is the culprit] that I want to weed out and increase the performance.
Is that my only problem? Or need more cleanup?
Please help

Also, one last suggestion if you can spring for a new HDD, do it.

I replaced the 30GB 4,200 RPM 2MB Toshiba HDD that came with my laptop back in 2001, with a 40GB 5,400 RPM 16MB Toshiba HDD and it cut my boot time literally in half.

But definitely get Ad-Aware and Spybot and clean that crap off your HDD.

Spy Sweeper from www.webroot.com is a good program also, but only for limited use.
