If you go to Control Panel -> Device Manager, right click on the hardware in question you know you can't get drivers for and go to Properties. Then in the Drivers tab, click on "Driver Details". This will tell you where all the driver files the hardware uses are located. You should group each driver set in its own folder. If the driver exists online for Vista, you can use it in Windows 7, usually.
When installing drivers, DO NOT PUT THEM BACK IN THE FOLDER YOU FOUND THEM IN. Use Device Manager to do an "update" and point it to the location of the backed up drivers.
