I am looking to install the Insyde 1.12 Unlocked BIOS for my Acer Aspire V3-771G, I currently have the stock version of the Insyde 1.12 BIOS installed, so I am unsure if I can actually install what amounts to the same BIOS, although unlocked, over it.

The stock BIOS can be installed directly from within Windows and also has a DOS installer as well, but I am not sure about the unlocked BIOS. Here is a screenshot of the files within the zip file for the unlocked BIOS:

The BIOS itself can be found for download here:

There are no instructions in the zip archive, which I think is just stupid!

Can anyone give me an idea of how to do this, because I assume there are people here who have installed unlocked BIOS in their PCs before?

Are you acquiring your bios from here? Just double click the windows file named VAGV112.exe

Did you miss where I said:

...I currently have the stock version of the Insyde 1.12 BIOS installed...

What I posted is the unlocked BIOS!

A modded and unlocked BIOS allows you to change more settings than the standard (or "dumbed down") BIOS that ships with the laptop from its manufacturer.

Well sure, but what does OP want so badly?

The first thing that comes to my mind for some reason is tweaking with the frequency settings. Which you do not really want to overclock a laptop since it's cooling system is probably taxed as it is. Underclocking/volting, then sure. That makes more sense.

My thought is if the OP cannot install a simple BIOS update, what's going to happen when a setting is tweaked wrong and the PC wont boot? Overclocking and tweaking settings is an art, you have to teach yourself the craft. When things go wrong, and they will, you will have no one to fall back to.
