My PC won't turn on. Except when I unplugged ethernet cable. I did some google serching and found there might be something wrong with the ethernet port on the mother board. So I bought a USB 2.0 ethernet adapter shut down the LAN port on the BIOS, shut down my PC then hit the power button and it started right up. But now the next day it won't start again. Any suggestions

What are the specs of your system? Make/model of the motherboard, psu, cpu and OS?

Does the computer even beep at you (if there's even a PC buzzer)?

It normally will beep and turn on. But when I hit the power button it doesn't do anything. When the Ethernet port was live I would just unplug it and within 2 seconds it would power up. So I googled the problem and found that the motherboards ethernet port might be bad. So I whent thru BIOS and DISABLED THE LAN port. I shut down a few time ad then hit the powerbutton and it powered up. So in order to connect to the web I bought an USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter load the software. Shut it down a couple more time and it started right up. 2 days later I go to turn it on and nothing happens.

Any suggestion?

What is your psu make/model and how old? Sounds like the likely culprit. But let's check some easy stuff first.

1. Do you have the latest bios and lan driver installed? Do it.
2. Where is your lan originating from? A router, your cable modem, or other? If router, update that firmware too while you're in updating mode.
3. How many hdd's do you have? All on sata/ahci or ide? Any RAID setup? I've seen raid play games on a mobo more than I can count.

PSU is a rosewill 500w atx 12V v2.3. Came with tower bought in 2009
