The issue at hand is when you go into device manager in Windows 7 "Network Adapters" is compleatly missing. When I say missing I don't mean you click the drop down and the nic is corrupted but the entire "network adapters" folder there is gone. Also if you go to network and sharring center zero objects are found. What would cause this and how to fix it? f

Now I have reimaged the computer and yet is did resolve the issue but I created an image first as I put it back as corrupted as I want to figure out what the F happened.

This is what I have done:

- Scanned for rootkits (MBR or otherwise)
- Virus / Malwarescan (came up clean....ran 3 different tools including combofix)
- ran sfc /scannow
- ran chkdsk /r
- ran HDD regenerator no bad sectors.
- Reinstalled the NIC driver
- Reinstalled the chipset driver
- Ran tweaking.com (windows repair tool)
- Ran Rizone complete internet repair tool when manually trying to fix the tpc/ip stack did not work.
- tried to install a wireless NIC card but refused to install.
- Finally one other thing to note, when right clicking on computer and going to manage gives missing location error .lnk file.....yes I did apply that fix but did not work as well.

Again I know it is not a hardware issue as reinstalling the OS did fix this but for next time I want to know if there is any other options.

nope they are all zeros. there must be a .sys file that could have been repalced that would have fixed this or a registry key because corrupt. But you would thing the system file checker would have fixed that.

Did you run a diagnostic on the hard drive to see if you have a failing drive. I find using the diagnostic from the manufacture works the best for me. You may have lost some clusters and that would cause an issue like you experienced.
