Which proc. would be better to overclock to FX-55 speeds? (2.6ghz) I understand that it is more stable to overclock a 3500+ and it is also possible to get the 3500+ to 2.8ghz? So all in all, which proc. is better to overclock based on stability, heat and headroom for overclockability?
Also which components would I need in order to overclock it. So far my computer parts are as follows, although I haven't ordered any of them:
3200+ or 3500+
XP-90 with Panaflo 92mm and AS5
MSI K8N Neo 2 platinum
OCZ 3200 platinum edition rev. 2
Geforce 6800GT (Planning to overclock it to ultra speeds) with NV Silencer
74gb Raptor (74gb is enough room for me)
Audigy 2 Platinum
5Panaflo case fans 80mm
Antec 1080AMG Plus with 430W TruePower PSU
In order to overclock either proc(including the overclocked 6800gt), would the XP-90 and 430W PSU be suffice, or would I require "better" parts. Lastly, what kind of noise level can I expect from the computer with all these parts and is there anything I could do to lower it if it is unbearble? Thanks for any input!
Well i cannot speak for the 3500, But the 3200 works welll.
I just helped a pal cobble together a system based on a amd64 3200 with a msi neo plat and 2g of kingston hyperX
252fsb with 10x multi Aircooled,no voltage tweaks.
benched stable, was like 27k 3dmark 01, 68k aquamark
Not bad for a $250 chip
