Doing my first overclock, i've read a lot of guides and just about everything else i can find.
i'm running
a64 3500
asus a8v rev. 2
1gig (2X512)ocz performance pc3500 2.5-3-3-7
air cooling

i've got my htt up to 220 with multiplier at 11. i cant get anything more out of it if i go up even a little i'll crash loading windows.
So i tried to relax my timings on my ram and if i do i can't even post.
I've gotten up to 225 with changing my htt ram ratio some but when i do it cuts my memory scores in sandra in half.
i've tried raising my voltage on my cpu and ram.
Also my temperatures are all fine under load.

so is 220@11 a good overclock for this set up? i've also tightened my ram timings to 2.5-3-3-5 since i've given up for the moment on my cpu oc. i'm at a lost as to what to try next.

Thanks

It's not bad, especially for AMD chipsets. The 3500 is a 2.2ghz part, and you've taken it to 2.4ghz.

The problem could be cooling or the chipset. I believe that is the Via KT800 PRO board and while all the fanboys said it overclocks well, in reality I've never seen Via chipsets be good, stable overclockers.

It could also be the ram...maybe raise the timing as well to a cl of 3 if it's not there already. Put ram sinks on it. Better yet, get overclocking ram from OCZ, Crucial, or Kingston.

Expect the highest though to get out of that chip about 2.4-2.6 with air cooling.
