Hi all. I've got a little extra cash so I'm looking for your thoughts on what components I should upgrade first. Here's what I'm working with:

    GA-990FXA-UD5 AM3+ Gigabyte Mobo
AMD FX-6100 with Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
Samsung SSD 840 PRO (OS), Hitachi HDS723020BLA642 (Data)
    AMD Radeon HD 6800
    16GB RAM (4x4GB G.SKILL DD3 1600 F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL)
    850W Thermaltake W0319RU

I'm thinking that the best way to spend about $400 would be to upgrade the CPU to an AMD FX-8350 and upgrade the video card to something like the mid-range GTX 760 that MPC recommends. Do you think those upgrades would net the best performance increases? I use the machine for gaming and work; it gets a lot of use from a wide variety of applications. I appreciate any advice!

I'd say the 760 GTX is worth it.

Before you do make the upgrade though, update BIOS if it needs it.

Thanks, LatiosXT. Do you have any idea if AMD is going to be releasing another AM3+ chipset? Bulldozer came out in October 2011 and Piledriver in October 2012 but nothing since...I worry that they'll be releasing something new in October of this year but who knows if it'll even be AM3+. Any rumblings?

I don't have any reason to believe AMD wants to pursue the higher end market at the moment.
