I'm building a HTPC that I'm going to have dual boot as a steambox later (when available), but none of that matters except to explain why its not getting a dedicated monitor. I want to use an all-in-one pc as a 'sometimes' monitor for the PC that will also boot and run on its own when not required for that function. I'm a bit of a novice, although I've been building my own PC's for years, I haven't gone much deeper than plug and play stuff and and modest overclocking. I am prepared to dig a little deep for this (financially and in sweat equity) because I think it would be pretty sweet, just don't really know where to start if it indeed is possible. Any advice?

http://www.asus.com/AllinOne_PCs/ET2411IUTI/ Is one, these AIOs are kind of hard to find. I just searched "all in one with monitor input"

I just looked at those options as well as searching around a bit myself, and those options are a bit too expensive. I was hoping to be able to get a cheap/used/refurbished one and do a little tinkering to bring it into compliance. At these prices I might as well build a small form factor PC and get a large monitor that will work with both, which may just be what I do... at least then I'd have spec control. I figure the idea was far fetched, but I thought I'd ask just to see if anyone else had tried to tackle this.

Interesting, Jpound. You should keep us updated if it works out.
