The PNY XLR8 PRO
, or the Kingston SSDNow V300
? They are both 120GB, both are $79.99, and both have 4 stars. The XLR8 sounds faster, but I know advertised speeds should be taken with a grain of salt. My instincts say to go XLR8 but I've been using two Kingstons, and they've worked fine so far.
So I need to know which is faster, and if one is more reliable.
Suggestions for anything in a similar price range are more than welcome.
(Also, as a note, my motherboard is only SATA II, though that's only relevant when comparing to my RAID set up -- will one of these drives be faster than my two slower drives in RAID? I'm sure they will, as they top at 261MB writes, but I want opinions.)
In my post on Tom's Hardware, I was recommended to get the Samsung 840 EVO 120gb
for $10 more. I was wondering if it's worth the extra price, and if, despite its specs, if it's faster than the other two?
What about the Kingston HyperX 3K
? (It's also on Amazon
Note: my budget is fairly strict.
