Hello everyone, this is my first post and I appreciate anyone's time and help. I have 2 HIS Radeon HD 6850 (H685FN1GD) and am looking to install an Arctic Cooler Accelero Mono Plus on each one. This cooler comes with 3 and 4 pin connectors but the card has a 2 pin connector for the fan. I cannot find ANY numbers for the OE fan either in product sheets, online , or on the fan itself but the aftermarket cooler's fan has a .20 Amp and 2.4 Watt rating and the fan is 120mm. I am considering trying to power from the card directly to eliminate extra wiring, both aftermarket and OE fans have the same wire terminations so connector swapping would be easy, and because the cooler's wiring adapters are poorly made and have come apart (pins don't latch into place and poor solder joints caused wires to pull away - I solder for a living and could easily fix but am looking for a better solution). These adapters allow for 7v or 12v connections and plug into the cooler's 4 pin connector on the fan but the adapters only have 2 wires in them, meaning it only connects to 2 wires in the fans harness, which turn out to be +12VDC and Ground (per the info in the installation instructions). It would be easiest to plug directly into the card's fan connector but I don't want to risk damaging the card. If this wouldn't work then I believe my next best course of action would be to mod to a case fan connector and connect to a motherboard fan header or my NZXT fan hub.
Thanks again for your time and any help offered as it is greatly appreciated.
