I have a college who is looking to build a computer over the next few months, he'd like to build a gaming rig for on or under a grand. Someone suggested the following build for him and I'd like just like to run it by you guys to see what you think.

I'm also wondering what the build would look like with an Nvidia card instead of AMD.

Is it just me or do I see no motherboard?

Maybe that's where you provide some suggestions.

LatiosXT is correct - you are missing a motherboard. Plus, it seems that you're building a computer that's a generation older (3570 vs. the 4670). Not to mention I think $240 for a 7850 is way overpriced.

Try a website like http://pcpartpicker.com./. You can assemble a complete computer while keeping an eye on the price. It also helps with compatibility (for example, if you pick a 4670 CPU, it will show you motherboards that use the 1150 socket).

One word of advice: don't always go for the cheapest component if it means you have to buy from 4-5 different stores. You may end up spending more in shipping than you save.

Hope this helps.
