Hi all, I'm not new to PC building however, I haven't really kept up on the newer hardware and how it compares in performance. I have always leaned toward buying AMD CPUs since I have never been rich, and I feel that in the past you could get perhaps 10% less performance for 50% less price. To me that has always been worth it. Now however, I'm not sure if that is really the case. I've been hearing that the AMD parts are being outpaced faster and faster by Intel. So I'd like to build a new gaming rig. I'll be upgrading from a Phenom II 940 Black 3 gig, 8 GB ddr2 ram, and a GeForce 470 GTX. I would like to spend around $1500 for the new box (don't need monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc). With that in mind, would you recommend a midrange Intel part or a top end AMD part? Thanks for any opinions or advice :)
