I have been totally spoiled at work now! I have never used a multi-monitor set up before. But at work I have 3 clusters. A 2, 3 and 3 monitor config for control room monitoring.

At home I have a Dell 2408WFPB running at 1900x1200. Using a Radeon HD 7970 video card. Looking at Amazon, I see the new model is 2412. And it's half the price I paid for the 2408!!!

(Does a HDMI cable limit the resolution to 1080?)

Would that be a good pair? Looking for symmetry.

I have a U2412M, it's a great monitor. And that's really all I have to say :P

Regarding HDMI, it depends on what version compliance both the output and input are compatible with. If it's 1.3 or higher, then it can support resolutions above 1080p. But 1.3 was ratified in 2006, so unless you're getting the cheapest thing ever, I'm pretty sure it'll support resolutions higher than 1080p

Thanks,

Looked up my VC and it has 2 mini display ports, so I should be ok. Would it be better to have the 2412 the main display, or does it matter? I've never set this up before.

It's whatever you want, really, since they're both the same resolution and size.
