Simple question. I'm running a P67 mobo with socket 1155. Currently have an i7-2600K installed.

Is there any reason to upgrade to a higher chip in 1155? I've never overclocked this one even, so I know I have some more headroom once I invest in a better cooler. But would the money spent on a Sandybridge -E or ivy bridge chip be worth it. (are there ivy bridge chips for 1155? or only for 2011?)

I think this computer will last me quite a while, I just need a newer video card since mine is staring to show its age, but I don't want to do a whole mobo/cpu swap, this mobo works so well for my audio hardware.

The amount of money you need to spend to get a Sandy Bridge-E or Ivy Bridge-E system would be enough to build a new computer. Sandy Bridge still has a lot of life left in it considering the two subsequent generations barely improved on each other.

Thanks for the advice. That's pretty much what I expected.
