New build, have done 50 boxes as an instructor but none in a few years. Here is my parts list. I only have one stick of 8 gb ram is this the possible problem. All parts from New Egg.
Parts list for computer.

SAPPHIRE 100354XTL Radeon HD 7870 XT w/Boost 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 CrossFireX Support Video Card

PC Power & Cooling Silencer Mk III Series 850W Modular Power Supply

GIGABYTE GA-Z87X-D3H LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

SAMSUNG 840 Pro Series MZ-7PD128BW 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

LG Black 14X BD-R 2X BD-RE 16X DVD+R 5X DVD-RAM 12X BD-ROM 4MB Cache SATA BDXL Blu-ray Burner, Bare Drive, 3D Play Back (WH14NS40) - OEM - OEM

2 ea Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS8G3D1609DS1S00

Machine starts stays on 15 seconds shuts down and restarts and repeats.
Down to only mobo, cpu, and power supply have removed all from case. Have tried a known good Antec 650 power supply.
Which is the more likely culprit. I have buily lots of boxes but this a new problem. Thanks to all.

One stick of RAM would not be a problem. You do mention later you have 2, so try 1 for the other, or find some other known good RAM.

Do you get any beep codes at all? Are you even making it to POST? Remember, to POST you need: PSU; mobo; CPU; RAM; GPU (unless there is integrated graphics).

My first suspect is always the PSU (but it sounds like you switched in a known good one). Still, it's my number one suspect. Next on my list of culprits is wiring - make sure wiring is done properly - many people mix up the rows of pin connectors. This is followed by the motherboard. CPUs, while they can fail, have a failure rate way lower than most other components so it's the least likely component.

Hope this helps and keep us posted.
