I would like advice on 2 builds. The first will be my personal gaming and video recording/editing found here http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Butter1484/saved/1SLx and the other is a general use computer found here http://pcpartpicker.com/user/Butter1484/saved/1Spb

  • The SSD is too small for the cost. You can get a 120GB for less.
  • Ditch the soundcard. The onboard can probably do almost as good.
  • Up the PSU to 500W
  • Do you really need another monitor?

    Same thing for the SSD
  • PSU is okay, but I don't like that brand

The ssd is only for system files and does not need to be that big. Nothing will change my mind about the 2 monitors

Well, you're pissing money away that could be used for something else. If you're worried about reliability, there's some post of mine floating around that on a naive approach, you have to write like over 100+ PB before the drive is completely useless. And to put in perspective, I've only written something like 3-5TB in 1.5 years on my drive and it included at least 3 OS reinstalls.

And if you're going to get a second monitor, why don't you match it?

If I matched the cheaper monitor the video card wouldn't have enough of the right ports

Yes it does. The video card has a DVI, VGA, and HDMI output. The Acer monitor has a DVI, VGA, and HDMI input. DVI and HDMI are practically the same thing and if you don't care about image scaling properties, VGA works just fine.
