Hi all,
I got a secondhand machine that a friend wants to use HP Pavilion DV9008nr notebook. It has XP SP3 fully updated, windows, and his applications. But the HD is a bit slow, only 5200rpm. I would like to clone the drive to an SSD. The BIOS does not have a setting ACHI, but the drive is sata first generation, since the computer was built around 2006. Will it work? what SSD would be good if it did? I was thinking about an Intel 320 SSD. It is about the same size as the current HD. But does it have software bundle to take care of the manual trim that has to be done in XP? If not what SSD would be good. Also I'm not sure how to clone a HDD to an SSD. I do have a back up image of the C:, but their is a hidden restore partition that I also want to keep on the SSD.
Thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks

The only SSD software I know that does manual TRIM is one that is bundled with Samsung SSDs. As for cloning the HDD: http://lifehacker.com/5837543/how-to-mi ... ng-windows
