I'm looking to replace an old desktop system with something current. spend is around 1K. I've put info below. My understanding is that Strong CPU is needed for video rendering (not super-GPU) but correct me if I"m wrong. I was thinking I could get away with a decent onboard GPU?? I would do HD video play back, but no gaming at all. I suspect one or two SSDs may be appropriate with additional HDD storage for completed projects?
I haven't built a new system in a long time so I"m looking for some advice on the appropriate components.

Thanks for your help!

Used for:
general computing, audio work, and some video rendering (no gaming)
Approx Budget:
Around $1000.00[/B
parts I can reuse:
[b]Keyboard/Mouse/Monitor (1080p),hard drives as EXTRA storage only

No overclocking
Looking to build right away (ASAP(next week or so))
I have the OS (win7 64bit) and use Sony Vegas Pro for video

I would opt for Intel's Core i7-4770, because with QuickSync, you can render videos faster. I'm not sure if AMD has a similar thing going on. The problem is Intel is that you can expect to spend $500 for the system ($350 for the processor, $150 for a board... if they exist). AMD's solution is about $350-$400 if you go with an FX-8350.

You won't need a video card though.

Thanks LatiosXT.
When you say "You won't need a video card though." is that for both the Intel and AMD option you mention?

Thanks!

For Intel, you can get away with the integrated graphics on the processor. For AMD I believe it depends on the motherboard chipset. Some have an integrated graphics chip, others don't. But a cheap $50 card will get you going.
