i have been planning on building a general use ie hd vid plus casual gaming and this is what i came up with, i decided to go amd...
any thoughts/constructive criticism would be great

Get a 2x4GB RAM kit to take advantage of dual-channeling.

$640 for a complete build...? That's pretty good.

Few comments:
  • Agree with Latios - get 2 sticks of RAM instead of one
  • Any reason why you're going with such a small HDD? Here's a Hitachi 500GB for $5 less. And you can probably get a 1TB on sale for $10 more than what you've selected
  • Not certain what games you'll be playing but with the never settle bundle AMD is running, take a look at the 7790 - you can probably find one for $35 more and the bundle is a better value, especially if you're going to buy those games anyways.
