I'm going to build my own computer.. yay! I've never done it before and I need some help. I'm going to be going to school for film so I'll be editing, rendering and using visual effects etc. I'm also a hardcore gamer and want a pc to fit my needs for both. So far I think I picked out some nice parts but, it would cost approx. $2115 dollars lol. I want to spend maybe around $1200 or less maybe more idk.
These are the parts I have so far

Swap out the CPU for a Core i5-3570K. Drop the Sabertooth. You can get a decent motherboard for $120-$150. Drop the RAM to 2x4GB of DDR3-1600. Get a smaller SSD (a Samsung 840 128GB and just load Windows and a few core programs on it). Get a 550W-600W power supply.

I think I saved you like at least $400-$500.

Yep, go down to say something from the Asus P8Z77-V line...LX supports crossfire, LK supports SLI if your into that sort of thing, a 3570K will keep pace with the 3770K for the bulk of what the system is gonna do, however, plop a Coolmaster Hyper 212 Evo or something as good and overclock it, it'll run pretty decently at 4.2Ghz and won't break a sweat.

At Latios also said, drop the wattage unless you intend on running a trio of Titans or 690's a Kilowatt PSU is overkill, 550-600 watts is more than enough, maybe bump up 750 if your considering adding a second GTX 670 down the line.

I never really liked boards over $150. There's a certain price point where the features they add go unused for most people because they start catering to the computer tweakers and power users. Unless you really need those features provided, you shouldn't go above that price really.

Also the Sabertooth is overpriced for its feature set.

its funny cause max pc recommends the sabertooth x79 in the performance, but at 300 bucks, I wouldn't buy it either.

He said he would be rendering and stuff. Is that ram intensive or not? CPU intensive or maybe GPU?

Well, if OP can fit 16GB in the budget then sure. Otherwise, the list provided is $900 over budget and OP is looking to cut costs.
