Got the 990FX board for my AMDFX 8350 chip but right above the socket on the board is a 3 pin male connection. The fan connections are all 4 pin. Does anyone know what is supposed to be connected to this 3 pin connection just above the CPU socket?

Using the picture of the ASUS Sabertooth 990FX from Newegg, and the Manual From ASUS's website, I believe the three-pronged device you are referring to is a MOSFET. I admit, I have heard the term, but I do not understand its importance or how it functions. I'm pretty sure it is not a power connector (it could be a connector, though).

Perhaps, someone else can shed some light on a MOSFET, what it's used for and what (if anything) we can do with/to it.

Hope this helps.
