Maximum PC

PLease let me know what you think about this build. I'm trying to build a computer and stay with in the 500.00 to 550.00 range. I just need a computer that I can upgrade easily. All I need is the box itself and I can get windows on my own. Something with a good motherboard with alot of empty slots for updrades. Good video card and memory and dvd burner front usb's and a fairly large hard drive. A good game type procssor. If you have anything else that you think might be better please post.

I don't like that power supply, mostly because I don't know how good they are. And while I could go dig around... I'd rather just say swap it for a 500W from Seasonic, Antec, or Corsair

Don't skimp on the power supply. Pick a wrong one and you'll more likely to have hardware issues up to and including damaged hardware if it breaks.

I know LatiosXT speaks from experience. I've built about 10 computers and the PSU is the one item that has failed the most.

I happened to see this Corsair 600W PSU for $60 after $10 discount, plus a $20 rebate. That's more than enough for the rig you have (good job, BTW) and will allow you to grow into a better GPU when you're ready.

I tried to get a build for you but it's pretty much the same mobo and cpu. Your build is fine, aside from the PSU. You might be able to get some cheaper RAM if you wait for a sale.

Keep them comming and information I get I will appreciate and use. IF anyone can do a cheaper build for what I want Please post it.

Honestly, unless you get the (for lack of a better term) shit tier stuff, you're not going to save much.

Let us get some more info first. Are you in the USA? Can you use newegg, amazon, tigerDirect, Microcenter? I want to keep shipping costs down (bundle as much). The cheapest build method is to do it piecemeal when things come on sale. The only problem is to keep track of the warranty/RMA period so you can return stuff if a part is bad. Microcenter can give you great Mobo/CPU bundle deals. I got an AMD Phenom II hexacore and Mobo for around $180 (includes taxes ) from them.

You want an upgradable Mobo. Do you mean, only for RAM? What about CPU upgrades? I know you do want USB 3.0 headers. Might skip onboard video if it saves money.

You want a decent budget gaming computer. Why not go with AMD CPU. Spend some extra money on the a GTX 650 Ti or an AMD 6870 (these are around $150). GPU does most gaming work.

Yes I'm in the USA. I'm in Arlington tx. Yes I can use the companies you posted I would like the Mobo to be as upgradable it can be with everything. Still need to be in my price range not much over 550.00. would like to keep it at 500.00 but will go as much as what is posted here. I do not want anything intergraded with anything else. If something goes out I want to be able to replace that one part not two parts. If you can post something I would appreciate anything you can give.

But you just missed some deals on good PSU and cases. I built a budget PC and my main money saving tool was Mail in Rebates. The slowest rebate was an NZXT PSU (5 year warranty and $63 after rebate) that sent their rebate check 6 months later. Not a big deal for me.

Try to see if you can buy things on sale at the sale time. I would say build a PC with the case, PSU, mobo, CPU, and RAM first. Run a stress test to see if it all works. Then wait for a GPU to come on sale, stress test the GPU and call it a day.

Philly keep looking for what I need to complete the build. Can you build it with out ceatain parts and still run it ? I dont think you can. Let me know if you got any other suggestions

You can build a working PC to make sure the components work using just the Mobo, CPU, RAM, and power supply. Of course, you would need the mobo to have video output so you can see the boot screen on the monitor. And you need the case to put the parts in; I won't take the chance of frying something. If you got the DVD drive (or just use a Flash drive), you can load up a Linux boot CD and run a couple of tests like Prime95 (for CPU), Memtest86+(for RAM).

But that's for after you get the core components. All I can say is keep reading and ask questions. Make sure you're signed up for Newegg, Tigerdirect newsletters. I would also check out slickdeals.net. They post the latest deals there.
