I am not sure if this belongs in this post, here goes. I had upgraded several parts in my rig in one shot due to unexplainable crashes. I have changed the generic psu for a Antec 550 watts item and also upgraded the stock AMD Athlon XP 3000 hsf for a Thermaltake Volcano 12 hsf. Before all those upgrades my Thermaltake Xaser 111 chassis was literaly quiet, even with the 7 case fans spinning. Now it is LOUD, annoying the hell out of me. I can't tell whether the psu or the hsf is making the loud noises. I need to make the case quiet again. Help!!

Switch out the new hsf with the old one. If it's still loud, then the psu is the problem. If it's quiet, then it was the hsf.

Where did you purchase the parts? You may still be able to take them back and exchange them for something a little quieter.

that is what I had intended to do in the first place, do the retailers accept parts for exchange even though the parts have been used?

Some will take them back, because they don't work as expected, others don't - you'd have to check with them to see what their rules about it are...
