Can someone explain what the advantage of buying a video card with "FTW - For The Win" over a normal video card. Is it just overclocking? Better parts? or just a tatic to confuse people.

My example is: Newegg.com
EVGA 04G-P4-2673-KR GeForce GTX 670 Superclocked+ w/Backplate 4GB 256-bit GDDR5
EVGA 04G-P4-3673-KR GeForce GTX 670 FTW+ 4GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express

There is a difference, but we could say it's to confuse people. Because on top of what NVIDIA does (560Ti vs 560 vs 560Ti Core 448), EVGA has regular, Superclocked and FTW.

It's mostly how much factory overclock the card comes with.

So is it worth buying the FTW or just the super clock. The difference in clock speeds is so small I doubt I could tell a difference. If one has better parts then I would rather purchase it. Spending that kind of money I want it last.

not much difference, with backplates suggests that water cooling can be added later as the backplate is necessary to do this. other than that, the first card listed is shorter than the second which is a half inch longer and clocked a little higher, and no not really noticable in the end.

The factory overclocking benefits are small at best. Don't worry about it.

^ Agreed! Heck, why pay for something you can do yourself.
