This will be my very first computer build. I have updated my two similar but different computer builds. One build is Intel and the other is Amd. I don't know what kind of tasks your going to be running on your PC but I would recommend a ATI 7770 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... hics-Cards because its newer and only $30 more and would provide about a 30 to 40 percent increase in graphics performance. In your Intel build you should use a 3570K i5 instead because it'll provide you a 15% increase in performance and only costs $10 more and you can use the same mother board you have already chosen. Here's a Motherboard I would recommend for the 3570K from ASRock http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... therboards. You should consider getting an SSD too because it'll speed up your boot times. Here are a few you might want to consider http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... ternal-SSD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... ternal-SSD

Welcome to building computers. I hope you have as much fun as I do.

Several things:
**As mentioned by the previous poster, you don't mention the intent of the computer; nor do you list a budget. Both of these need to be determined before you proceed. From your post, I'm guessing your budget is $1000 (since your two builds are about the same price) but you need to identify your budget and stick to it.
**AMD vs. Intel. Might as well get the 800lb gorilla out of the way. The majority of people will tell you to go with Intel. For the two CPUs you've selected, I can guarantee the Intel will beat the AMD in every test. Hands down. But that's why it's $80 more. At the same time, the 6200 is an excellent CPU. All things considered, that is probably the best Performance per $$ CPU AMD has right now. In fact, I would say Performance/$$, the 6200 would probably be top 10 CPUs right now - including Intel. So for the $80 savings you get with AMD, you can put that towards an SSD...or maybe a better GPU. I'm not saying buy AMD, but I am saying don't just discount them outright.
**16GB is a heck of a lot of RAM; 8GB should be fine. That will save you at least $40 that you can put towards something else, or your pocket.
**Thee 7770 is a very good card, but you should also consider the XFX 7750. It's about the same price as the 6670, better performance and a single slot so you don't lose one with overhang.
**As for the case, I don't know if aesthetics is the main reason you chose it, or if it was for some functionality, but I like the Antec Three Hundred Two. It's cheaper, professional looking, but still has a little personality. Again, another $40 saved.
**I haven't priced HDDs recently but $100 for 1TB seems high. Keep an eye out for a sale. Here's a Samsung 1TB F3 for $88 including shipping. You should be able to find a comparable HDD for $80 on sale, maybe $75. And make sure you need 1TB. Unless you have a large collection of music, movies or games, 500GB should be more than enough, getting you closer to $60.

Hope this helps.

I'm going to beat this horse and say, yeah, what do you want to do with this build?

And maybe it's just me, but I'd consider a larger monitor than that 20-inch panel. A decent 23-inch panel at 1920 x 1080 resolution could be had for about $150.

To be a bigger jerk even, I'll suggest using http://www.pcpartpicker.com for its convenience.

I'd first go Ivy instead of Sandy, unless you're an EOC'er...which I doubt if this is your maiden build. 3550K clocks much better than a 2500k and is only $180. With memory so damn cheap, I'm not going to discourage you from spending $60 for 16GB but go with 2x8GB DIMMS on a Z77, stay away from 4x4GB. If you have $100 to spend on storage, go bigger than 1TB. The 1.5TB Barracuda is $70 this week as is the 1TB Spinpoint or skip a few lunches this week and get the 3TB for $140 instead. 20" ain't much, add another 4" and go 1920x1200 -- it'll make a big BIG difference. And yes, follow the jackass, (err, I mean jerk) hindolio :) and use pcpartpicker so we can help you dial in your system a bit easier. Lastly, when you give us the details of your use case for this new rig, also provide us your budget?

Looking to spend around 1000 monitor and all. And why 2x8gb instead of 4x4

You'll want to have 2x8 because its about the same price as 4x4 and because 2x8 will let you upgrade in the future without having to replace any RAM sticks.
