Hey guys! I could really use some help! And fast please! My friend is having his Birthday in a week and I wanted to get some new parts for his PC. He is using the Celeron 450 2.2ghz and Intel GMA g33 graphics. So yeah it is pathetic. I am 99% sure it has one PCI-E 16x slot and it is a 775 motherboard socket. I was gonna get him a Core 2 Duo but heard it wouldn't work. So I was gonna get him a Pentium D 450 3.4ghz but RAGE says it won't play it.
Does anyone have a Pentium D 950 3.4ghz (meant 950 above not 450) or a CPU close to it that can play RAGE? I want to be sure it can before I buy him a CPU. Also I am buying him a GT520 1GB so that spot is fairly strong it is the CPU I am worried about. And 2GB of ddr2 is good right? I have an extra 2GB stick somewhere so it might be 3GB instead but not sure if he has a 64bit OS. Is the RAM cap 2GB or 3GB? Thank you! :)

It might be a bit off track for here as I just posted it on a can I run it PC website and copied it over to here. Like when I said it says it says I can't run it I meant a program on the webpage that guesses my game performance my entering my info.
I just checked again and it says I can run it with a Pentium D Extreme Edition 3.73GHz instead so yeah... Basically will this setup run RAGE?

Pentium D 950 3.4ghz

2GB or 3GB of DDR2

1GB GT520

300W PSU

I really want to get him new PC parts as the poor kid's most graphically intense game he plays is Flatout 2 on medium at 1280x720. Then I feel like I torture him when he plays games at my house like Metro 2033 on a i7 3930K and 3GB GTX 580 at Ultra on a massive flat screen. So pretty much all his friends have at least a XBOX 360 and then he is left in the dust with his pathetic PC. Will it at least Play Fallout 3? Thank you!

IMO i wouldn't waste $50 on a GT 520, that GPU is almost as worthless as your Intel onboard graphics. I would go with something like the GTX 650 @ $130.

Basically any Nvidia card below x50 (520, 530, 540) is just a price-point filler that is comparable to cards from 2-3 generations ago.

OK thanks but do you want to pay for it?? It's not for my PC and a GT 520 is a Huge difference in performance from Intel GMA33. I am not a cheapskate I spend $600 on my GTX 580 3GB. But this GPU is not for me so I don't want to spend $130. I am actually getting a GT 630 GDDR5 for him instead so it will be faster. BTW you still didn't answer my question.

http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_lookup.php?cpu=Intel+Pentium+D+3.40GHz

According to this it seems a Core 2 Duo is the minimum, and the Pentium D benches lower than the Core 2 Duo.
