How much more of a performance boost does the 6800 nu have over the 6600GT??? I know that the 6800 has 256-bit, but does that help it have the major upper hand? I need your opinions

I would say yes, but judge for yourself. Here is a review that puts the two GPUs (AGP versions) head to head. Sure looks like the 6800 beats out the 6600 every time, but not by a whole lot. I guess it comes down to whether or not you think that performance increase is big enough to justify the price difference

if it were me i would go with the 6600gt (i have 1 myself). I was going through the same decision as you when i bought my grapics card and i chose the 6600gt because it was about £50 cheaper

The performance is there, and for future games, the 6800 GT is a much better choice due to its 16 pipelines, 350mhz core/1000 GDDR3 and 32+ GB/s memory bandwidth. The 6800 is only 12 pipelines, 325mhz core/700MB DDR(1) and 22+GB/s memory bandwidth. Both video cards are 256-bit.

The 6600 GT is only a 128-bit memory interface , 8 pipelines, 500mhz core/1000 GDDR3 and 16GB/s memory bandwidth, ovbiously it cannot be compared to the 6800 line. But it's the best choice for a budget video card.

Yeah...I guess when it comes to this gen's games, the 6600GT keeps up with the 6800...but when games get even more intense the 6800 will show why its better than the 6600Gt right?

I don't understand the extensions to the card numbers, I understand that 6800 is higher than 6600, but is 6800 GT better or worse than a 6800? Thanks.

edit: nevermind, i found the answer

Well,

If you get the BFG model, it's overclocked (I have one, BTW, LOVE IT!). Also, it is possible to unlock the additional 4 pixel pipelines using Riva Tuner. I was able to do it on mine, so I effectively have a 6800GT with half the memory...

You'll be happier with the 6800nu, trust me...

dunn2953 I believe it should be, but I may be wrong:

ATI X300 SE
ATI X300
nVidia 6200 TC
nVidia 6200

FX5950 ULTRA
ATI X600
ATI X600 PRO
nVidia 6600
ATI 9800 PRO
ATI X700
ATI X700 PRO
nVidia 6800 le <---

ATI X800 XL

ATI X800 XT
nVidia 6800 Ultra
ATI X850 XT
ATI X800 XT/PE
ATIX850 XT/PE

Im not sure but is the 6800 LE faster than the 6600 GT? I think it is.

For the record, the 5950U is faster than the x600 and 6600. The 6800LE is slower than the 6600GT. Also, The mid range should be arranged like this:

9800 Pro | x700 Pro | 6600GT | 6800

That's because the performance difference between the two is almost negligible. As for the 6800GT and X800 XL, they're even.
