This is going to be my first build and with all your help I think I did pretty good choosing parts. Ill be using this for office work and games mostly. My budget is $1000 and with these parts Im actually a little under. I was thinking about using it to get a beefier graphics card but I dont really mind turning graphics settings down. So please give me all the suggestions or critiques you can.

Case $118 Thermaltake VA3000 Dream Tower Black

PSU $132 Antec 480 watt

CPU $190 AMD Athlon 64 3200

Mobo $89 MSI K8N NEO4-F nForce4

Memory $99 Kingston 512MBx2 DDR PC-3200

Video Card $196 GIGABYTE nVIDIA GeForce 6600GT 128mb

Optical Drive $38 Lite-On Black 52X32X52X16 Combo

HDD $52 Western Digital 80GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

Total $914

Well I opened every link, I think you did a pretty good job choosing the parts. I wouldnt spend $132 on a PSU, I mean thats more than your MOBO and almost as much as your CPU and VidCard. I would find one for about $60.

I went with that PSU cuz of all the horror stories ive been reading about poor PSUs. I figured it would also make me safe for upgrading in the future. However I have no aversion to spending less money, is there a PSU you would suggest.

personally i like that power supply, its the best you can get, maybe even better than a pc power and cooling supply. the antec neopower is the power supply i will be using in the next computer i build, and it costs more than my mobo too.

I would go for this Thermaltake PSU it cost $58.99

Koopsta Knicca just bought it. If you go down about 10 threads you will see a thread called "Case and PSU..." that he started. You can read what everybody thought about it.

I think its a good way to save $72 and but it toward something else!

My personnel opinion is this...

Theres no point in having the best PSU, because it doesnt improve preformance. A cheaper one will get the job done the same way a more expensive one will. Just read the reviews on it........

Personally I like that power supply, I got one for The PC I am building right now, although it will require almost that much power. This supply is highly reccommended by Maxium PC. it will give you good stable power and plenty of room for upgrading. I find that when upgrading a PC there are only a few componets that you can reuse during the upgrade that has not bee outdated already and this is one of them. if you got the money spend it, it's a good investment.

True, but people who use an apostrophe to pluralize just don't know.

Few bucks more and you can get a DVD dual layer burner you know... I mean, few bucks more than your cd burner, just get a dvd burner instead if you can. I just bought my computer a few days ago and I intended on getting a CD burner, but I ended up getting this Sony Dual Layer DVD burner.
