Well here is my dilemma;
There are a few good brands out there when it comes to speakers these days with the likes of Klipsch, Logitech and Cambridge Soundworks pretty well rounding out the top three.
I have recently put together quite a nice media setup. The speakers are really going to add the icing to the cake, so to speak.
The following is a rundown of my existing setup to give you a better idea as to which speaker set would best suit me;
Antec Sonata Case
MSI Neo2 Platinum
AMD Athlon 64 3500+
2x Samsung 512MB DDR 400 (Dual)
XFX Geforce 6600GT AGP 8x
SB Audigy 2 ZS
WD raptor 36GB SATA 10,000 rpm
Seagate Barracuda 200GB SATA 7,200 RPM
Sony CDRW 40x
Sony DVD+-RW DL 16x
15" Samsung 151s LCD monitor
Infocus X1 DLP projector w/61" 16:9 screen
Logitech cordless optical combo
SnapStream Firefly Remote
*****Creative Labs Desktop Theatre DTT2200(5.1)*****
So, as you can see, the speakers are a bit on the weak side when compared to the rest of the system.
So far I have two replacement sets in mind.
1) Creative MegaWorks 550 - $229.00 CAD

2) Logitech Z5500 - $389.99 CAD
http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/produ ... ENTID=9486
The price difference is quite substantial (1 Point for Creative). I also really have no need for an external decoder (2 Point’s for Creative). I do however like the look of the Logitech’s (1 Point Logitech)
Bottom of the line is performance. Both are rates at 500w RMS and they both have similar SNR ratings (Creatives is actually better, whether that is true or not??? Who knows).
Since I will use my Audigy to decode DD and DTS tracks, would it be wise to settle for the Creatives?
Any ideas or comments would be great!!!
