The monitor looks like it got decent reviews, which is important. It also has DVI & analog, so that's a plus. I would see if I could find it at a local brick & mortar store. Do you have a link to the actual deal page? Depending on what the actual cost, is it really free? If it is, then hey, why not?

Buying a monitor isn't easy. When I bought this 17 inch Sony with Xbright technology, I wasn't looking to spend $300+, but after seeing it in person, I had to have it, it is awesome! If you have a Comp USA, Circuit City or Best Buy, go have a look at it. It's really a sweet monitor, looks like it has glass but doesn't. I hear there are these Acers that have the same technolgy but it's called something different.
So far the Acer AL1931 is the only one I've been able to find.

If you are in fact spending money on that monitor, I'd go with the
SONY® 17" HS-Series Computer Display (SDMHS75B) - $309.99 after rebates and at Sony SDM-HS75P/B suggested retail after rebates- $ 399.99

The LG looks good. It has the same response time as the Dell 2005FPW 20.1-inch. Actually, right now you can get the Dell LCD for 561.75.
