Maximum PC

So the question is.... Is it worth it to upgrade to the following CPU and motherboard. Only loaded with 16GB of 2400 DDR3, leaving 6 of the ram slots open... for the future. =P~

Currently I am running an AMD 1100T at 3.9ghz. 6 core with 16gb of ram, liquid cooled only an 890 chipset motherboard. EVGA Hydrocopper2 Nvidia 580 with 3gb of video ram. It plays BF3, COD MW3, Star Wars, and Guild Wars 2 without any issues really. But looking towards the future, I am either going to wait until AMD pops out their next CPU in a few months, and get that... which would be cheaper. But I have been an AMD person for MANY years, and have not touched an Intel I7 CPU. All the PC's that I have had experiance in using an I7 was the lower end models, and all where a manufacturing pop out. Nothing custom built without crap ware.
I would kinda hope to hear from the Amd ton Intel switchers mainly. LOL But pretty much anyone that used both AMD and Intel systems.

It depends on what you want to do. If it's mostly video games, then no. It's overkill. A Core i5-3570K with a decent Z77 board would be a better deal.

Thats for the suggestion. I'll have to look into an I5. I do MAINLY use the PC for gaming. I also do Blue Ray back up from time to time. Some Photoshop stuff. Nothing complex. And webpage design with the Adobe suite.

Why the inkling for an upgrade anyway? Or is it just about that time?

Yea, with your current setup you said works great so I'd hold off until Haswell in Spring 2013 before upgrading what you had. To be honest you probably could wait an additional year longer and get the 14nm chips coming in Spring 2014......maybe just upgrade the Videocard if you notice any performance dip.
