Hey folks,

I've got a weird issue I'm trying to figure out for myself, and I think that it'll work for what I'm about to talk about, but I'm not about to risk it based on what I know.

Anyway, I have a 7970 HD Radeon from Gigabyte and I want to buy a 7970 HD Radeon from Asus and Crossfire them into the same system. Now, theoretically, because they both have the same type of GPU, RAM, and the AMD default drivers, it should work, yes?

This one here is the one I bought - it is no longer available on Newegg and cost a lot elsewhere:

This is the one I want to Crossfire with my current one:

I know you can't Crossfire/SLI two different cards from different generations or groups, but both these cards have exactly the same specs, just made by different companies. I appreciate the help, guys.

Tyler

Yes, and in fact, you should always use AMD's drivers.

No they don't.

I think I should take away your "computer geek" card now.
