so i was about a month away from buying a new pc.. AND one day my pc stops working...

the mobo light is on.. but button presses did not turn it on..so i prayed it was the power switch.. to check i did the whole power pin touch a screwdriver trick to turn it on... NOTHING.... now i think i know its either the power supply failed.. or my mobo failed...

so i ordered a new case and power supply... and im hoping that fixes it.. however if it does not... that means my mobo is fried right?

and here is the problem.. it was an m3a78 mobo from asus.. it was a socket am2+ mobo... i look online for that mobo and cannot find anything... if the power supply replacement does not fix it. then im screwed right and may aswell just buy a 1200 dollar brand new rig...

can you guys offer me any advice? I know im not being to clear but the general gist is that my pc died... mobo light is on...does not power on... and im praying that the psu was what failed.. because i cannot find another m3a78 mobo to replace the mobo if it was what failed..

i really do not have the cash to throw together a 1200+ gaming rig right now... so i need to wait.... however waiting without a pc will drive me nuts... please help.

Get a newegg preferred account: http://promotions.newegg.com/NEPA/index.html No interest if it is paid off in 12 months, otherwise you will be charged all the interest accumulated on the 13th month. As long as you pay it back you will be good I have used it and it is pretty useful. You just have to make sure to put money into it when you can/every month until it is paid off.

It most likely is the PSU. Just based on the likelihood a failure, PSUs fail WAY MORE OFTEN than mobos (but I realize that's not a guarantee).

I know it stinks to be without a computer...but hang tight...get a new PSU and pray it works.

Hope this helps.

NOTE: This should be posted under the Free Clinic.
