i am currently running:

Intel core i7 940 1366
MSI Eclipse SLI
6GB Corsair Dominator DDR3 tri channel memory
GTX 560Ti
Raptor 300gb
Corsair 750w PSU

this box is starting to freeze from time to time then it resumes as if nothing happened. im not sure why its doing that. rebooting seems to clear it up, sometimes. im thinking of upgrading the memory, by adding another 12gb with the 6gb? windows 7 task manager tells me im using around 3.5gb of memory at any given time, thats when im not doing any gaming. so should i buff up the memory or what?

this is the memory im thinking of adding:

will adding 12gb memory work with that mobo/memory that is currently installed? will i get 18gb after install?

only other possibility for the intermittent freeze ups is maybe the raptor is dying?

I do not know of any game that needs more than 8GB of memory.

You did not mention what version of Windows 7 you have. Windows 7 Home Premium can use up to 16GB - total.

Enterprise and Ultimate can use up to 192GB of memory.

There are many things that can cause a computer to "freeze". Specific programs or games can cause your system to freeze, or you could have a virus - do not visit porn sites. Even if you do not intentionally visit a porn site you can be directed to one or have a virus on your computer from clicking on something that looks innocent, or you could misspell a web address and get a virus from a porn site.

Many people here can suggest anti-virus programs. There are also programs that "scrub" your computer, starting with the free Microsoft program "Disc Cleanup". The three latest versions of CCleaner are very good and are free [though you can donate if you like]. NetEraser finds hidden internet tracks - yes Microsoft hides things from you, which makes it easier for dirtbags that put trash on your computer. Thanks Microsoft. Usually Disc Cleanup and CCleaner do a great job of cleaning everything except some hitten trash.

I suggest you use a good anti-virus program then run Disc Cleanup and CCleaner. If that does not solve the problem, look to see if you have a program set to download and install updates automatically.

If you still have problems, get back to us.
