Looking at two altogether different builds and having quite a tough time deciding on whether money should be saved by going with an adequate system, or if
Spoiler: show
YOLO
applies here and an ultimate machine should be built.

Components being recycled in: All hard drives and optical drives (unless you really sell me on an SSD boot drive)

Case price is a constant, just note that size does not apply and the biggest case needed will be purchased

Build Zero or Cheaper Build:

MoBo = $130 ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

GPU = $140 ASUS ENGTX550 TI DC TOP/DI/1GD5 GeForce GTX 550 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video ...

Power = $90 SeaSonic M12II 620 Bronze 620W ATX12V V2.3 / EPS 12V V2.91 SLI Ready 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - possible overkill but only $90

CPU = $190-$220 UP FOR DEBATE! i5-2320 or i5-2500k save a few bucks for loss of overclock?

RAM = $100 Corsair 16GB 4x4 (4x2 is $68 :\)

Case = $120

GRAND TOTAL = $670-$700 (really solid price, right?)

Build One or Ulti Build:

MoBo = $230 ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard

OR

$170 MSI Z77A-GD65 LGA 1155 Intel Z77 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard with UEFI BIOS

GPUx2 = $680 EVGA 025-P3-1579-AR GeForce GTX 570 (Fermi) HD 2560MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Power = $150 CORSAIR Professional Series HX750 (CMPSU-750HX) 750W ATX12V 2.3 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready 80 PLUS SILVER Certified ...

CPU = $330 i7-2700k

RAM = $240 Corsair 32Gb 4x8

Case = $120

Heatsink = $60 Cooler Master V8

GRAND TOTAL = $1770-$1830 (really awesome pc, right?)

I thank you ahead of time for your... time,

Dave
